The Event » What You Need To Know »

We want to assure both parents and riders that safety is our number one priority. We want everyone at the event to have a blast while at the same time making sure all the riders and those around them remain safe. With this safety goal in mind, we want to offer the following suggestions and rules of the road.

Choose a route that is achievable. We encourage riders to go the distance, but also want to make sure the event is enjoyable.

All the races are off road, and although there will be ride and route marshals, all riders should have the skills necessary to ride safely off road on a single track.

  • There shall be spectator points on the circuits.
  • The event shall have art and sculpture exhibitions as well as a craft fair
  • The event shall have food and drink tents for three days to cater for the camping lovers.
  • On Sunday night after the race there shall be a party to end the event on a high.

There will be a limited number of bikes for hire at Kshs. 500 per bike per day

Make sure your equipment is in good condition. Before the ride, check bicycle, helmets and brakes. Although, we will have bike mechanics at the event, it is better to come prepared so you can spend your time enjoying the ride and the day. If you are planning on riding more than 1km, get out for some practice rides in the weeks before the Life Cycle Ride

  • Every rider is required to wear a bicycle helmet
  • Audio devices that use headsets are strictly prohibited
  • Obey all traffic laws, including riding single file and coming to a full stop at pit stops
  • Always overtake on the right
  • Remember, the ride is not just a race; the ride is a reward for the hard work of raising money for the Environmental and Community Development projects around Soysambu Conservancy.
Riders will have all the support they need for a safe and fun ride, including
    • Water stops to stay hydrated
    • Ride marshals riding along the 5 ,10 and 15km routes (about 1 ride marshal for every 15 kids)
    • Route marshals to line the routes and watch for safety and mechanical support
    • Vehicles to pick up riders who need assistance
    • First aid station

Let's work together to ensure a fun and safe event for all as we ride to protect the environment!

  • Must have a Mountain bike and for children must ride without training wheels.
  • Ride on the road in a straight line with other riders
  • Listen to adult ride marshals
  • Ride near where spectators might be standing or walking
  • Helmet
  • Sunscreen
  • Water
  • Basic tool kit
  • Sealant for tyres
